Hearing Aids
Never, never purchase hearing aids without first having your hearing evaluated by a university-trained,
licensed audiologist! Why? Because audiologists are trained to assess, diagnose and rehabilitate hearing loss.
And not just any audiologist will do. We not only analyze your hearing loss, but also your lifestyle, so
we can properly determine the right hearing aid for you. That includes the proper prescription, the style,
shape size, circuitry and sound processing that you need. There are behind-the-ear, in-the-ear, in-the-canal,
and completely in-the-canal styles to choose from. At Hearing Associates, Inc., we have the expertise to
determine which type of hearing aid is best for you and your lifestyle. No matter what your hearing problem,
there's a hearing solution just right for you...and we'll help you find it! |

Live Speech Mapping
Visible or Live Speech Mapping (LSM) is a new technique used to verify the accuracy of the hearing
aid fit, and is the "gold standard" for measurement in hearing aid care. In this procedure, a small
microphone is threaded into the ear canal and located near the eardrum. Patients experience a
"tickle" or "bump" sensation when the microphone is properly in place. At that point, the hearing
aid is connected and "turned on" using a programming computer. Speech, music and other sounds are
then presented to the listener's hearing aid and the results are measured at the eardrum. |
| |
|
|
| |
These results are displayed in real time on a video monitor which also displays
the patient's hearing thresholds, uncomfortable listening levels and the amount of sound necessary to
make vowels and consonants audible. If needed, the hearing aid is adjusted while results of those
adjustments are monitored on the video screen.
If the patient reports difficulty hearing a specific voice (ie, their spouse), that person's voice can
be measured and adjusted directly at the eardrum to make sure that the hearing aid system is properly
programmed (within the limits of the hearing loss).
LIVE SPEECH MAPPING has become an important part of our first-class hearing care and Hearing Associates,
Inc. Ask at your next office visit to have a demonstration of the LSM technology and how it can help you hear better! |

Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment - NEW!
Tinnitus is characterized by a ringing or whistling in the ears, or buzzing and humming background
sounds. It affects 20% of the population; with 1-2% of people severely affected.
When tinnitus is severe, the results can be devastating - its interference with sleep and
concentration causes stress, interferes with relationships and work and can lead sufferers
to a desperate feeling of loss of control over their lives.
Neuromonics developed the Neuromonics Tinnitus Treatment to help improve the choice and quality
of treatments available for people with tinnitus. Neuromonics aims to bring an evidence based
approach to the tinnitus industry, with the treatment being proven in a series of clinical trials
over the last decade.
